Daily Practices hosted at Victoria Square Project's Living Room

Updated: Mar 2, 2021

Victoria Square Project is hosting in its living room the exhibition Daily Practices, a collaboration with the Transitional School KETHEA from December 21, 2020 until January 17, 2021.

Adela, Andriana, Athina, Basmala, Christina, Daniela, Ersela, Khaye, Ornela, Roza, Zaira present their pieces which they created during the sculpture workshops with Kostas Sahpazis and theatre workshops with Phevos Markianos. Through the workshops the young artists transition from the lockdown reality to the daily life and from the childhood to adulthood. The artworks reflect the thoughts and feelings they experienced during the first lockdown, as well as the emotional swift of the team in a non verbal way. The young artists work as whole, as team. As a result the emotions expressed via colors and shapes are a reflection of the group's emotional changes.

The initial goal of Daily Practices was the exploration and the redesign of the city through sculpture and performance workshops. However, due to COVID19 restrictions the program's approach and methodology adapted to the conditions and was held online. The team surpassed many obstacles as the year 2020 turned out to be full of challenges for all that led to the redefinition of the daily life and our relation with art and the city we live in. The circle becomes the mean for the team to express themselves and finally they become stronger.

How do teenagers nowadays experience the reality of the neighborhood? What is their role in the family? How can we express ourselves without speaking? In what wat can we respond to today’s reality? The young artists answer in all of the above proactively, creatively in their own unique way.

Daily practices is a program of exploration, processing and inspiration of ourselves and the urban environment. It was designed by Niovi Zarampouka-Chatzimanou and Christiana Natsika in the framework of the collaboration between KETHEA and Victoria Square Project and is addressed to the youth.

The Daily Practices is part of the educational work of the Transitional School of KETHEA and is supported by the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports.
